Actualize is an online software engineering bootcamp based in Chicago that offers part-time and full-time bootcamp options. Instructors with professional educational experience teach students full stack web development including Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, VueJS, SQL, and Git. The Online Live classes are conducted in real time with video conferencing. Actualize has a deeply integrated “Job Hacking” curriculum focused on the personal branding and networking skills necessary to land a new job, which Actualize feels is just as important as learning to code.

To apply, students can submit an application via the website, then go through a series of two interviews with an admissions advisor. There are no coding challenges, but students must complete 4 weeks of prework before the program starts.

After the program, students have the option to join its unique Career Support program, which contains additional training for Job Hacking, a job accountability group, and team projects to add to one’s portfolio.

best risky decisions I have ever made in my life

I think this course past my expectations in a course. With it only being from 6-9pm during the week and 9-5 on sunday, I didnt expect so much information to be dished at me and also for me to comprehend everything passed. The teacher was very knowledgable on any question that was asked and knew many tools for you to learn and do more work outside of class. I would recommend this course to anyone who is really interested in learning code.

    Great Experience

Actualize was overall a great experience. The instructors and TA's very friendly and personable, and explained things in a clear and enaging way. It was difficult doing it while also working full-time, but also rewarding in the end. In the end I feel confident in writing Ruby, Javascript, HTML, CSS, building a Ruby on Rails application, using Vue.js, and understand a variety of other important concepts in the industry. They also just hired a career counselor for us so I'm excited to begin ...

Good instructor but they're flying by the seat of their pants

    I chose Actualize because:

    • They emphasized the fact that the instructors are actual teachers
    • I was intrigued by the post-bootcamp apprenticeship with nonprofits
    • It was the cheapest, part-time & online

    ---

I was nervous about the logistics of doing the class online (audio/video quality, screensharing, etc) but that worked perfectly for me the whole time. In fact, the abili...

    Truly great experience!

A friend of mine turned me onto Actualize after his brother-in-law Scott attended the program. I talked to Scott who gave me some positive feedback and informed me he had found some contract work and then a salaried job shortly after the program making around $80k/yr, which was more than he's ever made before. That was definitely enticing but I was more concerned with whether I would enjoy coding since I was looking to make a career change into a field I would find fulfilling, ...

Actualize was an Awesome Choice !

I really gained tremendously from Actualzie bootcamp and learnt so much so quick. I took the online bootcamp and it really felt like a real live class with 100% interaction. Brain Rice is great and professional instructor.

Actualize bootcamp style is instruction - excersize - instruction - excersize etc. This style really gets students invovled, executing and internalizing the information fluidly. Also every class is video recorded giving students full access to any information ne...

    Actualize

I was standing to code on my own a lot, but it didn't really work for me. At some point, I decided to join a coding Bootcamp. I had a full-time job so my only option was a part-time school. At the time (and probably still is) Actualize was the only school that allowed you to study after 5pm.

Long story short. I liked it. Our teach was super experienced and explained complicated stuff very clear. Always willing to help before or after the class.

    Highly recommend it to anyo...

    Excellent Program

Coming to Actualize with very little experience program, I never expected to learn so much in such a short amount of time. I highly recommend Actualize to anyone interested in learning to code.

    Best Decision I made

I started this bootcamp knowing nothing about coding and very reluctant to go into it. I was a fraid that I wont be able to learn as fast as the others, but our instructor Peter pulled me right through it. He was always there to help me out even if it was even because i missed a div and would always explain everything to me in full detail.
After 12 weeks i am very confident with my skills as a programer.

Actualize - Improve your tech skills

I have been working in accounting and finance for 6 years and always wanted to learn how to code. I reviewed all of the many options online for both part and full-time courses, and came down to 2, one full time, and Actualize, which is part time. The fact that this program is part time, and as immersive as it is, is crazy. The amount of skills and concepts I learned within the first month alone were worth the price of admission, but the entire course has given me a very measurable value th...

Actualize made me learn how to learn

When I first came to Actualize I was taught thats its not about what you know but how you learn and retain information. Through Actualizes program, I got to meet great people, learn how to program, and have work to add to my portfolio. The program really made me hone in my focus on what was important and realize that coding languages become outdated really quickly so why spend the time worrying about what you know or dont know.

    Great!

My experience at Actualize was overall fantastic. The staff is super friendly. The instructors and TAs are super knowledgable and incrdibly helpful. I will say it is hard to manage with a full time job - so if you are going into this bootcamp with a fulltime job be ready for a challenge and to really be ready to put in work and be exhuasted. On the otherside, i can say I do not regret my decision and even with a full time job, i learned a ton and do not regret it.

How do you get a job after coding bootcamp if you have no relevant, real-world work experience? Only 1.4% of bootcampers have worked as developers in the past, but most career-changers have little – if any– client experience when they start looking for a developer job. Some bootcamps help students overcome this hurdle by offering opportunities to work for the bootcamp itself, or with rea...
