I walked away feeling very disappointed and without a goog grasp of Digital Marketing, and I know many/most in my class felt the same. For the final presentations reps from the companies we were presenting on were supposed to be there but only 1 showed up. They announced a winner but didn't explain why the rest of us didn't win which would have been an idea learning opportunity that was missed. There's a lot of potential here but Braintstation really needs to step up it's game if it wants to be a leader in this space. There aren't really any substantial perks for alumni who have spent thousands of dollars for these courses. I definitely wouldn't recommend to a friend.

Curriculum is not worth it. Most of the reviews here are from people that are currently or have been employed by Wyncode. You'll be better of learning by yourself. Dont waste your money.
The curriculum is not worth $10,000. Most of the time you are using code school to learn. The hiring rates are inflated by unpaid internships. You pay $10,000 and can't get your money back so basically have to make the best of it. During project weekends there are not enough TAs. Also they give out projects before material needed to do the project is even introduced.

We were promised files containing the solutions to many of the challenges, but many were never delivered. The deployment lessons we were promised near the end of the course still haven’t been added to the online portal.
Some of the challenges used starter code provided by other people from Konrad Group which didn’t work and actually prevented us from completing the challenges. Even the code written by our lead instructor Rares was frequently wrong because he didn’t take the time to check his work before giving it to us to work with. This is not the right way to teach! Spending hours trying to figure out where I went wrong only to eventually find out it was the source code (which we weren’t supposed to touch) that was wrong, was a colossal waste of time and incredibly discouraging. Rares just shrugs this off like the quality of the information we are given shouldn’t matter.
The lead instructor was mainly unavailable, across the street working for the parent company, taking meetings, or even teaching a different class while we did without. That’s double-dipping, and Brainstation should know better.
The TAs tried to be helpful, but it wasn’t enough. One had the attention span of a gnat, one was too busy babysitting the girls who were flirting with him (for hours on end), and the third didn’t have the training to be able to answer even the most basic questions. The teacher was rarely in the mood to answer questions. Waiting for 45mins+ for someone to be available to answer a question was the usual.
The pacing of the course is uneven. We raced through HTML, CSS and Javascript, then pretty much stopped dead while the teacher was teaching the other class. Each lesson was dictated at lighting speed so most of the students didn’t even try to keep up. We just had to teach ourselves via Google after our teacher or TA stopped talking. They have no presentation skills.
Most weeks there is a “guest speaker”. I put that in quotes because every single speaker worked for Konrad Group, so they weren’t really guests. One week they brought a female developer all the way from the Costa Rica office to talk about being a woman in tech. They couldn’t find a female developer in Toronto? Hmm. The single freelancing talk was taught by our lead instructor who told us he only worked freelance long enough to build up a portfolio and get a job. The company doesn’t know anyone who actually chooses to work freelance?
The website used to brag about the classroom being in the midst of industry professionals. It isn’t. It’s across the street in an old building they haven’t finished repairing yet. There is no heat, the floor shakes like the building is falling down, the plumbing isn’t hooked up right, and the brick walls are held up by wooden shims. But the design has won awards! LOL
There is zero job search support. Only a couple job ads were posted on the Slack channel before it became a ghost town. These were not for companies that Brainstation has any connection with, but just ads somebody saw. The interview preparation consisted of a slide deck prepared by Konrad Group for their own hiring purposes. We were promised a copy but never got it. There were mock interviews conducted by Konrad Group which consisted of, “Show me your project,” and “What is…” (simple questions of general programming knowledge which we hadn’t actually been taught). Useless.
Konrad Group/Brainstation exists in a bubble. They don’t bring in other companies to speak, they talk about themselves exclusively, and they don’t care if we get hired by anyone other than them (as TAs or interns, never as web devs).
The consensus among the grads from my cohort is that we were ripped off. An immersive course is better than nothing, and better than studying on your own, but for $8000, we did not get our money’s worth.

Honestly not worth it. Teaching yourself will save you money and emotional distress. the program is underdeveloped. There are great resources online you can use that are equivalent, if not better, to the wyncode program. Wyncode is very misleading in how they portray themselves. There are not many connections you can make through wyncode. The cohort i participated in had wynterviews with companies that are not even hiring... best advice is to go somewhere else or self teach.
Basically our cohort did not receive the same education Miami did. With the amount of time wasted in lectures to our learning space ( very small and dusty and the bathrooms are quite unsanitary) I feel that wyncode should give those at ft.lauderdale some of our money back. A lot of us are very angry about this but its hard to say this in our retro. I have talked to staff individually and expressed my concerns and still there was no change in the lectures. Our instructor Alvaro is a very intelligent and caring guy. He would however get thrown off during the session and then spend almost an hour trying to fix an error. Sometimes we would still have troubles in the second lecture of the day. This is definitely the #1 complaint from most of us.
I did make some great friendships and I enjoyed going out with my teammates and working in my group. It was a lot of hard work but All in all I do not recommend wyncode from my experience.
Did you ever watch The Truman Show? Well, that's Wyncode. They will promise you everything and anything you want to hear, a starting salary of $60,000-$70,000, endless demand, ect ect. They will promise you 93% employment rate after graduation, these are their numbers, good luck! Btw, if you can't find a job they will hire you as a Teaching Assistant, for 4 hours a few times a week, and pay you a little more than minimum wage. But hey, you are employed and in the 93%!

Oh, and forget about the yoga, kayaking, jogging outings they promise. These are plain and simple LIES.
The founders Juha and Johanna Mikkola will buy you with fist bumps, smiles, endless "your're awesome, you hustled, you're amazing" and a whole lot of one on one PR (and they're good at it!) and whoops, you coughed up $10,000, with if your lucky, 15% interest rate or more. I wasn't so lucky. One more thing, their online ratings are good because very often they raffle a free iWatch for whomever gives them good ratings.
Rita Rovira, the Director of Hiring Partnerships is also not innocent. She will sweet talk the hell out of you. She can certainly talk the talk, walking the walk? That's a different story... Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those bitter individuals who wants to take revenge. I did have a good time, made great friends, and the teaching staff are awesome. I just want you to make an educated decision and know what to expect because everything you learn there can be learned online for $30 or even free.

The teachers and their TA's are good, but the mandatory homework is confusing if not difficult. The students who excel at Wyncode are the type of students that should apply - former IT professionals, computer science graduates, and the people who live with them. If you enter this Academy with no computer science background, then expect to hit a wall. All students feel anxiety and many feel regret. The commute and parking situation make those feelings even worse.
Wyncode will assist students in finding employment and even set up interviews, but the majority fail the entrance exams and don't get hired per statistics. It should also be known that some of the staffs biggest cheerleaders did not attend the academy, therefore they are not fully qualified to speak on the student experience. There are success stories who are willing to submit reviews online, but there are twice as many failures who are too discouraged from the whole experience. At the end of the day, whether you graduated Wyncode Academy with or without struggle, the most important thing is a return on your investment.

Did a advanced level part-time course with them that is no longer offered.

Also terrible in following up ... we were told we would get a video tutorial on the rest of the material which we didn't cover when we ran out of time and course ended.... we never got said video.
Terrible waste of my time and $.
We started with about 12 ppl and by the end most had dropped out.
I offered to provide feedback to the founder but they weren't interested.
FYI lighthouse labs in toronto seems to have better quality instructors and take teaching more seriously.

It's hard to sum up the Wyncode experience in a short review so I'll do my best to keep things concise!
Wyncode has truly been a life changing experience. I remember reading similar statements on course report before starting and was skeptical... but it truly was. Wyncode has truly been a life changing experience. I remember reading similar statements on course report before starting and was skeptical... but it truly was. It is a very intense 11 weeks but if you are 200% committed in doing whatever it takes to become a web-developer you'll do just fine. My favorite things about Wyncode were the instructors who across the board were incredibly competent and passionate about their work. My head instructor (Ed Toro) was AMAZING and the teaching assistants played a crucial role in helping people along the way. My cohort was especially warm and supportive (which is important when spending 12 hours a day with them!). The support team at Wyncode was also all around amazing and very receptive to feedback. Wyncode on the whole does an amazing job of catering quickly to student needs.
All in all my experience at Wyncode was everything I had hoped and expected. My team won pitch day and I was hired before the bootcamp was finished. I can't say this was the case for everyone and I feel very fortunate to be in the position I am in now.
Some Words of Advice
- Anyone Can Code (Sort of) Yes that is true... however that doesn't mean it is for everyone. Be sure you understand what you are getting into. Coding is very much a hard skill that needs to be PRACTICED. Wyncode is not a college style course where you can skate by, get a pat on your back and add it to your resume. Don't be this person: "Wow 91% hiring rate, all I need to do is enroll and I'll be set". Employers will know if you can code or not and that's on you. Wyncode will do everything it can to help you succeed but you need to put in every ounce of effort. Any negative reviews on course report most likely come from people who unfortunately didn't understand what they were getting into or didn't understand the crazy amount of effort needed to make it work.
- PREPARE LIKE HELL. Do NOT think that the pre-work is sufficient for being ready to start this course. My recommendations before starting (also what I did):
If you are deciding on starting a cohort sooner vs later, I would complete the above before enrolling.
- There is free parking around the corner!
Do not trust reviews that say otherwise. These come from people who for some reason refuse to walk 1-minute to campus!
Here is my opinion on the reviews that say you could learn all this for a fraction of the cost in online courses and a couple of textbooks. If you are a legend like Matt Damon and believe everyone who had any formal education “wasted $150,000 on an education you coulda got for $1.50 in late fees at the public library,” then you are correct. There is a wealth of knowledge online waiting to be consumed, and if you have the discipline and drive to teach yourself then you ca...
There is a wealth of knowledge online waiting to be consumed, and if you have the discipline and drive to teach yourself then you can really learn any programming language you want because it is all out there.
Unfortunately though, not everyone is a janitor with an IQ over 200, and what you don't get in that fraction of the cost, is a focused and guided track, an awesome lead instructor (Ed), and a supportive community where your success is their primary focus. Wyncode gives you the foundation you need to then continue learning on your own. You need to come to Wyncode (or really anything in life) with realistic expectations. You will leave Wyncode with a programming foundation that you will then spend a lifetime building upon. You won't be a monster programmer straight outta Wyncode, but you will have developed the tools necessary to start working your way through problems, and each problem you solve you will continue to improve.
Juha and Jo (the founders) really care about each individual student and their success. Wyncode has a community that you can lean on as much as you want or not at all, but I suggest you use the network around you because that is what you are paying for in addition to the course. I moved to Miami to attend Wyncode, did not know anyone in the tech scene (or in Florida for that matter), and had a job a couple weeks out from one of the Wynterviews they had set up. I now work with an awesome group of people here in Miami.
If you put in the time and work, utilize the help they have to offer, and go in with realistic expectations then you will come out ahead at the end of the program.
Best of luck!
