Decent Class, Good Material, Great Teacher..... But

I'm going to be completely honest with you. Because I wish someone would have written a review like I am going to write for you and I hope it will help you make your decision,

I enrolled in the KU Cyber Security Bootcamp in Mar2022. I had a career that i was unhappy with before (I'm 37 years old) i enrolled. I was always smart with computers. Not like in the coding and technical way but I can work my way around a computer without having any technical schooling. Btw the class is $...

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that the boot camp did not live up to your expectations.
As you mentioned, the course is designed to cover a broad range of topics in a short period of time. We do our best to communicate the commitment required to succeed prior to enrollment, telling prospective learners that they should expect to dedicate at least 20 hours to coursework outside of the classroom. We also offer additional academic support to ensure that learners understand concepts covered each week. From your review, we understand that you were not able to take advantage of these services due to personal circumstances.
The boot camp allows learners to learn through hands-on lessons and projects in an environment that mimics the real-world work done by cybersecurity professionals. While the materials may not resonate with all students, we aim to provide a high-level overview of relevant industry topics so learners can walk away prepared to enter the field. The final project is your opportunity to apply the skills you've learned while diving deeper into a particular area of cybersecurity.
Prior to enrollment, we communicate course expectations to prospective students, as we know taking a boot camp is a big commitment. In addition to covering the refund policy, our admissions team makes it clear that while we cannot guarantee job placement upon program completion, we do work with students through the Career Engagement Network. We regret to hear that your studies resulted in your decision against pursuing a cybersecurity career.
We welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly to learn how we can assist you at this time. If you would like, please reach out to us at (913) 439-1919.

Well I came into this program a beginner, and came out a web developer. It was one of the hardest challenges I have faced to this day, but it was also one of the most rewarding. I am excited for my path forward, and can't wait for the opportunities from here forward. Thank you to the fantastic staff. I am kind of sad to be done.

    Data Analytics Bootcamp

Completely unhappy, and the worst experience ever at University of Kansas - Trilogy BootCamp Data Analytics.  I wish I could give zero star, but the review is not letting me. The teaching assistance was the worst experience, and the reason why I dropped the course and they had to return me back the $10,000 that was already paid.  I had an issue with a TA named [name redacted]. The issue happened on a Saturday November 6, 2021 from 12 pm to 2pm. The TA named [na...

Thank you for your feedback, Jimmy. We regret to hear the program did not meet your expectations.

In your review, you indicated behavior from an instructional team member that we take most seriously. We want to assure you that both Trilogy Education/2U, Inc. and University of Kansas Lifelong & Professional Education are fully committed to creating and maintaining an educational environment free from discrimination and harassment. We pride ourselves on responding to all allegations of discrimination and taking the necessary steps to ensure that each case is handled accordingly.

We vet our entire instructional team carefully. Each team member works to facilitate a productive and collaborative environment for all students throughout the entirety of the program. Our boot camps are rigorous and as such we strive to provide extensive support in the classroom through our instructional team and outside of class through office hours, a free tutoring network, Slack, email, and our student success team.

Like you noted, office hours are designed to provide valuable time to better understand the course material. We strongly recommend coming in with a clear purpose or specifics prior to attending a session in order to properly convey to the instructor or TA your challenges. We also know that problem solving in a peer to peer setting can be helpful in reinforcing complex concepts, and our instructional staff does encourage learners who have stronger grasp of the material to help others as a way to strengthen their understanding and gain helpful communication skills for the future. However, we understand that you felt your teaching assistant did not provide satisfactory support and we never want any of our learners to feel discouraged from continuing their work in our boot camp and beyond.

We understand all individuals will have different boot camp experiences, and we are fully supportive of students sharing feedback on their personal experiences. When we receive a less than satisfactory response, our first priority is to follow up with the student and resolve their complaints or concerns, to the best of our abilities. Our team did approach you in this same manner in hopes of rectifying any and all concerns you had.

We would love the opportunity to speak with you further to learn how else we can assist you at this time. If you would like, please reach out to us at (913) 956-0960.

    Full Stack Flex Bootcamp

I recently completed the full stack bootcamp, and all I can think is, "Why didn't I do this sooner?" The classes were super fun and I learned a ton! They do a great job providing you with everything you need to be successful, even if you have no idea what to do going in. I'm glad I committed to taking this course, and am excited for where my new life will take me.

    Best Decision

This course was everything I'd hoped for it to be. There is a lot of material in the course that were all relevant to current technology. So you know what you're learning is relevant to today's standards. It's impossible to learn everything about a specific language. However, the course gave me the tools to continue learning on my own and excel in the field.

    Full-Stack Web Developer Bootcamp

I'm am so glad I took this course. I had a basic understanding before I came in and now I have expanded my skills so much! I never would've learned what I know now on my own. The inclass session with a teacher is a huge help. Plus learning from your fellow classmates and working on group projects. They were great on getting us ready for the job market.

    Kansas University Coding Bootcamp

Kansas City Coding Bootcamp is an excellent choice for students who want to jump into Full-Stack Web Development. The first day was a classroom building exercise to bond with each other and network with one another. It was great I made quite a few friends in here that I have been learning with since the beginning of the course. The structure of the curriculum is on a higher difficulty and can be daunting. The resources that are available to you are top-notch and all of it is available to y...

    Well worth it !

After a year of taking online courses to improve my skills, I decided to totally commit to a 6 month Full Stack Web Development course. It was the right decision for me! The course is loaded with information about many relevant topics that web developers need to understand. There is a lot of information presented in each class so consistent attendance is critical. The instructors and TAs are very knowledgeable and helpful. But, be prepared to put in a lot of study and coding time in order ...

    Best investment I’ve ever made

I graduated the KU bootcamp last July and was hired as a back-end web developer shortly after. The bootcamp changed my life. I made so many new friends while I was learning new skills and have connections for a lifetime, and it was really engaging to be there in person vs doing an online coding course or bootcamp. To me, the reputable certificate, the connections and the engagement made it well worth the money and time to go vs teaching myself at home. Their content and resources covered m...

    Web-Development Bootcamp

Before I started this course, I had a decent understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I believe this really helped me in this course. This program offers a wonderful introduction to the world of web development. However this is a huge time commitment, the recommended 20 hours is not enough, I personally spent closer to 30 hours a week. I learned a lot though. I was able to land a job within a month of graduating, and most of my friends in the class had similar success.

    A Great Learning Experience.

The Full-Stack Web Flex Part-Time program is an outstanding introduction into web development. The material covered is extremely current, the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, and the teaching assistants are really capable to meet the students’ learning needs. The balance between material on the front-end and back-end of web development is good and students graduating from the program, who have put in the time to really study the material, are well prepared to pick up new material ...

    Long Read But Thorough

I signed up for this course because I wanted to learn development and this course is taught at a state university (though not through the university).

    My experience:
Day 1 and you jump right in. You have about an hour of introduction and then you get your machines set up. This was supposed to be done before the class, but was either not done correctly by the students or they ran into issues. The aides and instructor went around the room and helped to set everyone up. The sam...

We appreciate you sharing your experience! Great advice for prospective students — completing the prework is a great way to get a grasp of the foundations prior to beginning the program. We are happy to hear that you learn a wide-range of new skills, benefited from the hands-on projects, and felt job ready at the end of the course.

From your review, we understand you were unhappy with your career services experience. Like you mentioned, while we work hard to prepare learners to step out into the job market, we do not secure direct employment. We help individuals become employer competitive through a variety of resources and tools, including technical interview training, portfolio reviews, resume/social media profile support, and one-on-one coaching with their Career Director. We hope you were able to benefit from these resources.
