No more Dreamweaver and WYSIWYG, this is all coding! The second certificate built onto the first, and added a 30-hour back-end web development program which included PHP and MySQL and WordPress.org. I learned tons, and the teachers were excellent. The coursebooks are such a valuable tool to use with my projects, and being able to take additional classes live online makes it easy to keep learning. I was able to code a WordPress theme from scratch with what I learned form the WordPress.org class, and was even asked to speak at this past summer's Wordcamp NYC. The instructors know their stuff, and really make learning fun. Nothing is rushed, and they take time to answer all questions. And having the option to re-take a class is also great. These courses were a very worthwhile investment - would recommend to anyone.

Thank you ALL!
As a student for this class I was propelled into the workforce right at the end of the class. Many of the other graduates had the same experience.
This is a fast paced Web Developer based into to everything and into to everything professional Boot Camp. Essentially as a student you need to know these things:
- How to be prepared? Don't come into this class not knowing how to use a file system, this is a class meant for people who are going to get hired by a professional company after 12 weeks. This class is meant for people who have a good understanding of computers and already have an understanding of programming theory and understand how to read syntax. File system structure is not something you teach in this class. Don't be the student the slows everyone else down then drops out after 1-2 weeks.
- If you're a potential student of this class DON'T AVOID IT BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE IS A BEGINNER CLASS.
- This class is focused on making YOU INTO A PROFESSIONAL AFTER 12 WEEKS.
- Use logic from 3 to come to a reasonable conclusion to what the class is about.
They also prepare you for job interviews and have other professionals in the business speak to the class, in my class:
- Job Coach Professional Sherri Thomas
- Technical Recruiter at Nextiva Alex Francis
- Melt Media Tech Director Anthony Garone
- Melt Media Hiring Manager Devon Tackett
Sherri is a professional job coach and guided the class on the process of resumes, interviews and job seeking.
Alex works for Nextiva and spoke to us about professional interviews, what not to do and what to do. Alex also provides help with resumes.
Anthony works for Melt Media and spoke to the class about expectations.
Devon works for Melt Media and gave the graduates a preliminary professional technical interview with feedback.
Some things to expect:
- The class has you build a project, your own website.
- There are some costs involved which the College cant pay for if you want to be able to own the site
- The website will be about you as a programmer.
- If you cant afford it Jeff can let you make one on the MCOR server

The primary attraction was that it was free, but even with that advantage, the program did not justify the time commitment. Spending 9 hours a week on Pivot, in addition to working full-time, felt like a waste and took away from time I could have spent with my children or improving my life in other ways.Pivot actively promoted the bootcamp to me, but the quality of its curriculum and course content did not compare favorably to school, college, or even trade school. The program fell short compared to other bootcamps and educational programs I’ve tried, such as Codecademy, FreeCodeCamp, TripleTen, CodeWithMosh, and AppBrewery. Even the free resources offered by these programs, such as simple YouTube videos, proved more valuable than what Pivot provided.Pivot provided no ongoing support or check-ins throughout the program. Career materials were minimal and consisted of generic advice easily found online, such as tips for tech resumes. The program lacked proper resources and a centralized database for learning materials, with the learning experience varying significantly depending on the instructor.Seven months after graduation, my cohort's employment rate was 0%. When people raised questions about these issues on Facebook and LinkedIn, Pivot often ignored or deleted the comments. Unlike companies like TripleTen, Pivot doesn’t showcase their alumni and students, which is telling. I encourage you to search for success stories, but they may be difficult to find.Working for Pivot is not any better, if not significantly worse. They are a tech school that does not leverage technology to enhance the program. These points are worth verifying and fact-checking. Jaaga

A few months pass and an amazing opportunity came about for my family to move back to Tulsa, Oklahoma. After a year or so in Tulsa, still working from home; our Norman office began requiring us to come back to the office full-time. Having to resign due to relocating, I was left with nowhere to go, no backup plan and no idea what the future held for me; after dedicating 6 years as a Marine Meteorologist in Norman, Oklahoma. I was forced to do a deep dive in my interests, my goals and plans for my career. That's when I discovered Cybersecurity. I fell in love immediately and began self-teaching myself using Youtube university, ordering books and studying for my Security+ exam. I was then sent information for this incredible bootcamp! I knew exactly what I wanted to do and went after it. This bootcamp was the most life-changing, challenging and amazing program I've ever been apart of. My favorite aspect was learning about the SIEM tools and using Splunk and the instructor and TA's were incredible! My advice for anyone pursuing their dream in Cybersecurity by way of this bootcamp, is to give it your all. You get out of it what you put in. Use every resource available, and prioritize studying because it does get challenging. It is extremely worth it in the end! When I initially joined this course, I wasn't specifically looking for a new job, I was already in the software industry earning a lot of money in Silicon Valley, and I simply wanted to maintain my skill so it is not obsolete. However, as the course progressed and my goals changed, I came to take advantage of their career couching services, which actually made a huge difference in my trajectory.
This course is a serious course and I would recommend you join only if you have experience in software engineering already. While it s not necessary, a lot of the deeper topic will go over your head. Also, the learning outcome is absolutely dependent on how much time you spent on it, you can't expect to pay $10k and buy your way into an expert, this is a legit course and everything will have to be learned legitimately over time.
Some advice to new students:- Write notes continuously or you won't learn anything.
- Use your mentor to keep you on-track, motivate you, and unstuck you.
- Pick a capstone project topic you are actually care about so you won't get bored of it.
- Follow career guidance advice to the tee, it's good advice even if you think it's silly.
- Use your high tuition cost as a motivation to finish sooner.
- And the most important one: you learn only as much as the effort you put into it!
What you need to know before joining / things the course could improve on:- Course material could be ordered better, I had to go back and forth between different chapters to understand certain topics. Notes also helps.
- All their materials can be found online for free, which in my opinion was not a major problem, however the sections that were behind paywall were definitely a problem for me. I hope they eventually replace them with free ones.
- The course is expensive, don't go into it expecting a miracle just because you paid a lot of money. You are still responsible for yourself, but the course will help.
Course outcome: I was doing about 10 interviews per week before the course ended, and I had 2 job offers both above $200k right after graduation. I am currently the lead architect on a high caliber ML project with direct reporting ( I actually didn't even ask for this ). The course paid for itself. I would recommend. - 4Reviews1CourseThe CodeCrew Code School is an 32-36 week, full stack development training program in Memphis, Tennessee that equips graduates with the skills and acumen to ... I had no previous experience with coding but I did have the drive to learn and succeed and that is truly all you need for this program. The class size was ideal! Two instructors, and occasionally teaching assistants, were able to teach and reinforce multiple concepts a day with the bonus of review sessions before and after class. The technical skills and technologies that I learned in the CodeSchool directly contributed to me landing a development internship within months of graduation! The CodeSchool also provided extensive soft skills training and career prep that made me feel more confident with each interview and networking event that I attended. This is still a new program ( I am a graduate of the second cohort) and I see a lot of growth as this already impressive program gains traction in the Memphis tech community!
